Elk can be found in the taiga biome situated in Canada, across northern United States, Scandinavia and other parts of Europe, and across Russia. Elk populations are numerous and patchily distributed throughout the taiga in North America and Eurasia. In some areas, small populations exist due to the reintroduction of the species by humans and in other regions, elk are inexistant.
